Molly's Cottage in Sydlinch

Sydlinch in Tess of The D'Urbervilles is Sydling St Nicholas.
In the 1960's film version of 'Far from the Madding Crowd' with
Julie Christie, water from the gargoyle on the south west corner of
Sydling St Nicholas church washes away the flowers on the grave.
Ironically the church was chosen for its unkempt apearance -
rather different to today!
Only a few miles down the road is Stinsford Church where Thomas Hardy's
heart is buried in the churchyard (the rest of him is in Westminster Abbey!).
......and on to Higher Bockhampton where Hardy's Cottage is hidden away in
Bockhampton Woods.
